On January 9, 2019, the State Council approved the abolition of Laiwu city, and assigned its jurisdiction to Jinan city. Laiwu district and
Gangcheng district were established, becoming the youngest district of Jinan. A plan that conceived a long time ago has become a reality.
Millions of people in Laiwu become the citizens of Jinan city, enjoying the same rights and interests as people in Jinan.
