Lao She wrote a prose poem for the colorful autumn.

There was a touching story between Lao She and
Jinan city.
In his youth Lao She lived in Jinan
for about four and a half years. In his prose series
“The Impressions”, he recalled his stay in Jinan and
expressed admiration for the city’s scenery, customs, and
landscapes.

While reading the essay, one could easily feel a
certain kind of fondness emanating from his words.
More importantly, the natural beauty of Jinan had been
permanently enshrined in Lao She’s mind.

Jinan was a picturesque city all year round, which
showcased a galaxy of brilliant lights and amazing
colors. Lao She’s essay was not merely the duplication of
beauty, but a conversation with the landscapes.

The city, the river, ancient lane, shadow of the
mountain, lotus in summer, willows in spring, Pucai in
the Daming Lake, and the daily life scenes, were another
focus of his literary work.

To Lao She, the ancient city of Jinan was a place
full of poetic charm.
