芙蓉街,寻一份古朴天然意趣。
A simple but compelling elegance can be found in Furong Street.

At nightfall, I set out to explore the Furong Street in muted gold.
As a business street that has a long history, it was named after Furong Spring that was located on the street.
“A mossy old-style building was in nearby the pond where had fishes swimming around excitedly. It’s pleasing
to read in the shade of flowers by the crystal blue water of Furong Spring.” - A wonderful poem depicted a quietly elegant
scenery of Furong Spring, one of the 72 famous springs of Jinan.

There was a lot of hustle and bustle of daily life under the solemn memorial archway. The street continued to captivate
visitors with its simple but compelling elegance. The copper sculpture showed a vivid scene that Lao Can was listening to
folk music. People were wandering through the flagging to get a glimpse of ordinary life in the street. An eye-catching sight
of Furong Street was unfolding before our eyes in the melody of the folk opera “Qin Shu”.

According to the residents who have lived here for generations, Furong Street dates back to around 1100 BC and its
collection of ancient buildings trace back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Being less than 500 meters long and 4 meters
wide, it became the most prosperous place in Jinan prefecture in the mid-19th century. The street has more than 140 shops
and connects Furong Alley, Jinju Alley, Pingquan Alley and so forth in different directions. The wine stores and retail
shops in the street provide a picturesque account of local customs of the Ming and Qing dynasties in North China and the
lingering memories of prominent persons in ancient times.
