遗 贯通古今

With the booming economy
and rising international
influence, China’s intangible
cultural heritage has earned worldwide
reputation. Jinan’s intangible cultural
heritage projects start to make an eye-
catching international debut.

Chinese Opera Festival, which takes
place every two years in Paris, France,
has marked the 15th anniversary of the
founding since 2003. The foremost local
operas in Jinan including Lu Opera,
Shandong Qinshu and Shandong Dagu
made their debut in Paris. Lu Opera “The
Notes of the Top of a Wall” won the
Special Jury Prize and received warm
rounds of applause from the audience at
the 4th Paris Traditional Chinese Opera
Festival, illustrating the charm and appeal
across cultures that traditional Chinese
operas retain. Shandong Lu Opera Theater
has been invited to perform overseas for
several times.

A national-level intangible heritage,
Fupai donkey-hide gelatin is like a
microcosm of the “going global strategy”
and cultural exports of traditional Chinese
medicine. It was back in 1996 that it
won the gold award of Panama Pacific
International Exposition, which catapulted
the exquisitely packaged donkey-hide
gelatin into fame in overseas markets.
Later in 1949, the company became the
first to export donkey-hide gelatin. Fupai
donkey-hide gelatin was presented as state
gift at large international sporting events
such as the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and
the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

An increasing number of intangible
cultural heritage has gained worldwide
fame in virtue of national prosperity,
making international friends further
understand China and develop their
affection for China. During this process,
the overseas Chinese have reinforced their
links with Chinese culture and take pride
on the rejuvenation of Chinese culture.
